It’s friday and that means it’s gaming time. We decided to play a game at the Leipzig theater with 100 points per side and
I would meat Nicos Soviets with his cursed T-64’s. This time i tried the Armoured Cav. with two platoons of M1’s and Cobras.
At that point i didn’t know that this would become a very fast and unlucky game game for me.
We rolled for the Mission and it was Dust Up with me as attacker.
I decided to bring both M1 Platoons, one of the Scout platoons, the Cobras and the M109 battery with Observer.
Nico brought two T-64 Companies the Gaskins and his Storms.
Then we rolled again and Nico was in charge.
Not much happened at the first turn. Nico moved his T-64's backwards out of range of the Cobras and shot then at the Scout but bailed only the M113. My troops rushed forward to attack the T-64 platoon. The Cobras weren't in range and moved behind the factory building.
Only my bigger M1 platoon was able to shoot but only bailed two of the soviet tanks.
Maybe you recognized that the Soviets had only one T-64 company was on the table. We both were wrong about the Mission special rules (more precisely we looked at the wrong mission X-P) so we decided that Nicos second tank company automatically arrived as reinforcements at this turn a bad decision!
The Storms blew up two M1's of the smaller platoon forcing the last one to retreat. Then the T-64's disassembled the other US tank platoon in a merciless firestorm.
And finally I lost a Cobra to the Gaskins.
I had lost a third of my army in less then 5 minutes. Horrible!!!
Ok, that wasn't over yet, I still had enough firepower. My M109's started some copperheads which killed two of the newly arrived T-64's. Then my Cobras and the ITV joined in but missed absolutely everything!
No reserves for the socialists this turn, puh thats a glimmer of hope.
After their losses the T-64 company rushed to the left and raged against the poor observer M113.
The rest of the army shot at the Cobras but only the Gaskins killed another one.
No reserves for me too. I saw my options (and army) fading away. The M109's opened a artillery strike on the advancing T-64's and luckily killed one and bailed another.
My Cobras killed another and bailed one more but the Soviets refused to flee.
Another three T-64's arrived. The crews of the other Soviet tanks took their courage together and remounted their tanks then they rushed towards the objective. Once again the Gaskins killed a Cobra.
Knowing the game was lost I started my (last) round with a missed reserve roll. The M109's again shot at the T-64's which had taken the objective but couldn't harm them but the Cobras were able to kill one.
The ITV of the Scouts was able to kill one soviet tank of the platoon on the right.
That's it, at this point I decided to give up.
After losing both tank platoons that early in the game I knew it would be hard to turn the fate.
Maybe it was the decision to bring the second T-64 platoon as reserve because of our mistake with the rules. Maybe I wouldn't have been so aggressive with this other soviet tank company on the field at the beginning.
But I was also unlucky with my dice rolls. After losing my tanks I still had enough stuff to resist Nicos attacks. But I wasn't able to kill enough of the T-64's and in the end i was bled out. After the second Turn the soviets had absolute control of the field and could do what they want with less that I could do against that.
Quick and Dirty.
Tough loss comrade. Nice write up. Thanks for posting it.
Good report, and useful result
Outstanding table and great looking armies!

Fight the enemy with the weapons he lacks –

Or better yet eliminate them 🙂
Absolutely!
Cool looking board, and quite a fast game.
Very fast game… 😀
