The Warsaw Pact forces have pushed hard in the Hanover region.
The high command has decided for a Rearguard action in order to gain some time ad allow NATO forces to reorganize.
The Soviet force, commanded by Wasi has lot of support, and is composed by:
HQ – T64
5x T64
5x T64
4x BMP (rocce)
4x BRDM
3x Spandrel
6x Carnation
6x Acacia
4x SA9
The line of defense is represented by a road and a railway line.
I deploy my force almost symmetrically, holding the Air Assault in the middle as a quick reaction force.
Wasi deployment showed his intention to push a main attack on the right objective and use his reconnaissance to keep my left wing busy.
The enemy attacked by night, Wasi pushed his T64 at full speed inside the minimum distance of the MILAN platoon which held the houses in front of the objectives. At the same time, his artillery put on a smoke barrage in order to protect his side.
I shoot with the Strikers from the ambush and with the MILANs, destroying some T64.
I pushed forward my recce units. One of the Scimitars troop engaged the Soviet artillery, bailing every Acacia but they manage to stay on the field.
The Harriers failed to show up.
Wasi pushed forward on the objective with his tank force, his shooting caused some losses on my infantry and he was able to successfully assault me. The right objective was now red territory!
During my turn I failed to rally the infantry pinned in the assault, my resistance had to fully rely on shooting!
I moved the Recce Squadron HQ into 4″ from the objective, contesting it. I blitzed all my MILANs and Strikers into shooting distance from the T64 and began a deadly crossfire. At the end of the shooting, they were all destroyed or bailed, but they stayed.
The Scimitars engaged again the Soviet artillery destroying it and successfully Shoot&Scoot into 4″ from the objective.
Wasi remounted only a couple of T64, he tried to shoot my Recce HQ but hitting on 7s was hard for his already shaken tankers. Again he protected his flank with smoke.
In the center my Recce units, which had finally repelled the secondary attack were now free to support the right objective and launch a secondary attack on the soviet support units.
On the right objective the infantry platoon was rallied, and moved into assault distance, I shoot everything I had available and I was able to destroy or capture the lasts T64.
The attacking force was now in bad spirit, the British force was victorious!
Nice report. It reminds me of the old days at the NTC.
congrats on the win, reminds me of the old GW battle reports
I appreciate the effort going into recreating the battlefield, but wouldn’t mind some in game pictures to go with it 🙂 Also, if you intertwine the text with the pictures it’ll flow really well. Good report!
Nice work – night is your friend!
