Mission: Recon (from quick missions)
The routine reconnaissance mission quickly escalated as Soviet detachment encountered a recently airlifted in British unit.
BMP-1 platoon occupied position at the southern end of the village preparing to fire their rockets next turn. BMP-2 platoon commander was more cautious seeking to get his lightly-armoured vehicles into the close confines of the hamlet.
Tanks and Shilkas got into position overlooking the main road connecting the British positions with the center of the town.
British responded with a two-pronged attack with most forces moving around hamlet from the north and single platton of scorpios moving south towards a small stand of trees separating them from tanks and shilkas.
Shilkas drove straight through the wood and, though, one has stuck, the remaining three unleashed way too much lead for aluminium armour of Scorpios to handle. Meanwhile tanks raced towards the center of the hamlet as did infantry disembarked from BMP-2s. BMP-1 fired their wire-controlled into British howitzers. While the hits scared British crew, no physical damage was inflicted.
Crews of the of the remaining scorpios in the platoon mauled by Shilkas raced of the battlefield. Just minutes later their platoon was partially avenged when swingfire missile struck one of the Shilkas. However, this remained a sole success for the British force. Presence of Soviet tanks in the centre of the hamlet dissuaded Brithis troops from dashing closer. Furthermore, second platton did not advance far despite repeated pleas from their platoon commander (aka failed follow me test). Artillery bombardment did not change much: Soviet forces were in control of a battlefield.
PS in the discussion after the game it was decided that British should have dashed into the tree stand between deployment zones with all their scorpios as opposed to moving just one platoon behind the trees. Scorpios are essentially invulnerable within woods (scout means that they are 6+ to hit), thus, giving them opportunity to strike first. With such an opportunity they can easily obliterate everything in Soviet list except for tanks.
Congratulations on your victory. Nice report. Thanks for posting.
Congrats on the victory. Looked like a nice table and game.
The cost of the units are similar (Spartans instead of FV432s and Strikers instead of Swingfires)
HQ – 2 Spartan – 1pt
Formation – 4 Scorpion OR Scimitar – 4pts (x3)
2 Striker – 5pts
Support – 4x M109 – 10pts [Too much for such a small game, in my own opinion]
2x Rapier – 3pts
1x FV432 FOO – 1pt
TOTAL : 32pts {All good here)

Until now I wasn’t aware of the illegality of the British list (I don’t own Iron Maiden)
I… see… right then; you did tell your opponent that his list was illegal, and would assume that you were okay with it being so?
It’s fine if you agree, but it hurts my head.

No. Swingfires are Swingfires. One FV432 is artillery observer. I was told that two others FV432s are HQ
I got to choose my corner first. Than British chose to setup in the adjacent corner. The first turn Soviet photo show Shilkas and tanks after they moved out of deployment zone (still marked with red dice).
Am I right to assume the Swingfires/FV432s are representing Spartans and Strikers?
Also, Recon in Force? How did your tanks and Shilkas end up in such a good position? Everything about this setup seems wrong.
Nice report!
And greetings to you from Moscow!
Вперед Почвовед! Привет тебе из Портала!
Great terrain-solid report. Thanks
Nice report
Nice report, and thats tough to say given what you did to our Scimitars.
Neat report – and good lesson re: Scorpions in woods!
And of course the outcome was great…
