Scenario played: Rearguard
US victory conditions: Break the Russian formation or seize an objective and hold it for one turn.
Russian victory conditions: Break the American formation or prevent the US player from seizing the objectives.

US Turn 1
Cobras acquired some T-72 tanks in the woods near the demolished village and let loose with some TOWs. Scratch one T-72 and bailed out another! The M1 platoon on the left flank raced out and fired upon BMP-2 destroying two of them. The HQ and remaining platoon rolled up the center to destroy the BMP-1 that was hiding in the woods. So much for Soviet artillery observer!
Russian Turn 1
An admiral on the Star Wars movie was quoted as saying, “It’s a trap!” as the Russian T-72 company deployed itself in the open more than 16’ away from the left flank M1 platoon. The T-72s fired with extreme prejudice destroying one M1 and bailing out the other. The remaining M1 failed its morale roll. One American platoon down! The other T-72 company pulled back into the woods to make themselves less noticeable!

US Turn 2
The Cobra helicopters moved closer to the woods and sprayed the infantry with their Vulcan guns to no effect. The HQ platoon split from the remaining platoon to take on the new T-72 threat. They fired and scored four hits! Two tanks brewed up and two were bailed out. The remaining M1 platoon fired on the T-72 company that just received hits from the HQ unit. Scratch one more T-72! The company commander had enough and left the field of battle.

Russian Turn 2
BMP-2s were seen moving to engage the Cobras with their AA gun. One Cobra crashed to the ground…hard. The other Cobra decided to avenge his comrade and stay awhile. The T-72 company that pulled back into the woods moved forward again to engage the remaining M1 platoon, catching one of them with a beautiful side shot turning the M1 into scrap. The Russian SP artillery group fired on the M1 platoon (what is left of it!) with no effect. The remaining M1 decided that he who runs away lives to fight another day.

US Turn 3
The HQ section moved toward the left flank taking out one BMP-2 and the other fired into the infantry in the woods with no effect. The remaining Cobra fired a SALVO on the infantry in the woods but with no effect. Cobra commander failed his Unit Morale test and flew for home. The M1 company commander decided to call it off as there was nothing else that could be done.

Russian victory 3 US units lost to 1 Russian unit

    red win 🙂

I guess you should have taken the last train to Clarksville……

  • Nabeshin says:

Thanks for the video! Really helped visualise the report. Using units of two tanks is very risky, as all the enemy needs is 1 bail and the whole unit is at risk. That’s difficult due to the points cost of the Abrams, but your force will be so much stronger. Good game!

God report and better luck next game!

  • Spirit says:

Good report! Nice photos and video.

  • Davehodo says:

Nice job of pushing through-I had issues earlier today as well as everyone else it seems. Keep up the good fight. Go get them next time.

Today has definitely been a trial with the website. I wonder how many people got frustrated and gave up posting reports. Thanks for persevering Nice job

  • mcanu says:

It was a bit of a challenge to get the report online as I was having trouble with pages timing out or the report was not taking at all. I would have added more flavor, but the system is keeping the NATO fans down ;P

Nisbet: Indeed it was disappointing, but the next mission will be different! I am creating a scenario as we speak!

Bosje: Correct, those two tank platoons are stinking fragile to work with. Probability did not favor me when morale was rolled. Next time, 3 or 4 tank platoons for sure!

    Nice Youtube addition,

    Good Victory for the Soviets!

    Spasibo.

  • Bosje says:

And there you have the problem with the 2 tank M1 platoons, fragile as hell and will run at the earliest opportunity. At such low points it’s always a risk

  • M. Nisbet says:

A disappointing result, Captain Canu, but no doubt you’ll be back next time for some revenge.
