Re: Repulse of Yankee Assault
Report: At approximately 1430 on April 23, Yankee forces assaulted our poistions in Leipzig as we reorganized from prior operation Adept Icon. Yankee forces consisted of second-line Army units including M60 tanks and various light armored vehicles and soft-skin recon elements. Our forces were replenished to full strength but lacked infantry support, making doctinal defense impossible. We deployed the T-64s in laager. Early fighting saw the M60s eliminated by superior socialist armor. However, the LAV ATGMs of the Yankees proved deadly and hard to spot. They inflicted significant casualties on our heavy armor. Despite the loss of their armor, Yankee mechanized troops drove onto our position with Soviet-like disdain for casualties. Our T-55 support formation arrived and fully engaged scout and other infiltrating elements. However, the Yankees would simply not surrender. HMMVs and M113s swarmed toward our objective points, almost overwhleming our forces. We lost several T-55s to close range flanking shots from lesser enemy weaponry, but our T-64s stood tall. The arrival of our Carnation artillery allowed us to bring barrages to bear on soft-skin concentrations. As dusk began to fall the Yankees disengaged in good order, despite heavy casualties and their failure to seize the objectives. Although some reactionary defeatists might call the result a “draw”, the heavier casualties of the Yankees and holding the field justifies classifying this engagement as a victory if the People over capitalism.
Lessons learned: M60 tanks are no match for our forces. We should have attacked the capitalists
before the advent of the M1. Tank units, operating alone, may have insufficient firepower to see off hordes of lighter Allied AFVs. Recommend distribution of BMP and Shilka assets to repulse light vehicle swarms. Yankee “hammerhead” atgm assets are extremely dangerous and hard to counter at range. Air or artillery assets should be allocated to neutralizing these targets.
liked the AAR and your battlefield
would have liked some more info on your opponent
