Re: Assault in Leipzig
Report: Comrade General- I regret to inform you our recent attack on Leipzig was unsuccessful. The Yankees held our objectives with dug-in infantry possessing many anti-tank rockets. Per Soviet doctrine we opened the assault with a barrage and sent out T-64s in a spearhead manuever straight at the foe. Bolstered by our T-55 support, we brought the fight right to them. However, the “Dragon” teams of the Yankees were simply too much. They destroyed first our artillery and then our BMP support. Out tanks assaulted the infantry but were repulsed by ATGM fire. After we sustained heavy losses, Yankee Abrams tanks arrived and hit us in the flank. Our forces had no chance of success and we broke off to preserve our remaining strength. Enemy losses were very light.
Lessons learned: First, the use of smoke is essential to suppress Yankee atgms. Our failure to use smoke cost us many tanks. Second, priority must be given to targeting and destroying ATGM teams. Assaults should not be launched until infantry positions are softened up. Finally, our forces must be wary of flanking attacks by Nato elements. Their high rate of fire is too dangerous to be allowed side armor shots on our fine fighting vehicles. Proper suppression, targeting and situational awareness must be improved. Za Rodinu!
Fun report and good lessons learned. Better luck next time.
good report
Better luck next time. Might try and get a 4 BMP MRC in the force to deal with those infantry. I have found that Dragons just bounce off of T-64s
No idea why the previews are upside down. The pics are right side up if you click on them
Some very good lessons learnt. Thanks for sharing.
Was this played in Argentina or New Zealand 😀 ?
Kidding. better luck next time!

A world turned upside down 🙂
Dragons are poor against T-64s and Soviet infantry is your friend against NATO infantry.
thanks for sharing-you’ll get them next time
I like how you wrote this up. Good Lessons learned. Thanks for sharing your AAR!
