Blue on blue training exercise. A new American commander needed to learn how our superior German machines are used to beat back the red tide. Unfortunately our American ally is off to bad start when he rolls up my least favorite mission, Contact. At least he’s defending…
With a combined Army and Marine force, our new ally spreadheads into the woods to get his infantry closer to mt defensive objectives. My 4 tank Leopard 2 Zug (yes, they’re fun) beats back some Marine M60s and then proceeds to assault the Marine infantry away from encroaching onto the German side of the board. The Luftwaffe decided to buzz the training ground, but apparently the America commander didn’t get the memo that they were part of our engagement (i.e. they missed the tanks and only scored hits on light vehicles and infantry, who must have decided the afterburners were too loud and it was time to hit the chow hall). Once the American reserves were given clearance to enter the field, their forces started to get the hang of things (or word got out that some junior officers got a hold of a few cases of Spaten and my tank crews decided that was a better way to spend their Sunday afternoon.)
After going on for a few hours, we decided to call the game a draw.
