Firestorm: Stripes

Recon in force. 89 points in what would be an ugly, ugly fight with both sides being unable to make their rolls when needed. US places their objective first. East Germans are the Attackers and go first.

With the recent win and the marines falling back, a follow up attack has been ordered. The only formations available are recently arrived East Germans-category 2 units although the 1st battalion of each of the 2 tank regiments have received T-64s. Unfortunately, they are not that familiar with the tank yet. Nevertheless, we have no choice but to throw them at the Americans in order to continue bearing pressure and keep the enemy moving back. We will likely be facing an American armored formation. Expect a mix of older and newer armor with some fast moving scout elements as well.

Both sides used their scouts to spearhead.
East German:

On the German right, the 2 T-64 companies move forward in the middle the T-72Ms with the T-55 right behind them move as well. On the left, the BMP-1 scouts rush to get to the top of the hill and a height advantage. The BRDMs move and are almost in position to secure our 1st objective.

US Army:
1st platoon of M60s move through the woods with the ITV section. 2nd platoon M60 skirts the tree line. 1st platoon cav troop manages to bail a T-64 with a TOW. The US M1 platoon on his far right fires at the T-64s. It kills 1 and bails another. The M1s have secured the first US objective.

Turn 2
East Germans:
T-64 remounts. BMP-1s keep moving toward the hill-1 bogs down. The 1st T-64 company turns to face the M1s. The second company moves forward. The 72Ms and 55s keep moving forward. All of the shots from the 64s miss (need more training)

US Army:

The ITVs move through the woods-1 bogs down, 1st platoon M60 right behind. 2nd platoon M60 advances and fires at the T-64s bailing 1. The scout platoon (Humvee) fires its TOWS and KIAs a T-64 and bails 1. The M1 platoon bail a T-64

Turn 3
East Germans:

The T-64s do not remount. The T64s fire at the M60 2nd platoon and KIA 1. The other T-64 company fires at the M1 killing 1 and bailing 1. The T-72s hit the M1s but they all pass their armor saves.

US Army:
The M1 platoon passes morale and all remount. A cav platoon sees a danger (the East Germans will have 3 obj in their next turn unless....) and rushes forward sacrificing themselves so as to contest the objective next turn. The M1 platoon bails 2 T-64s and the M60 2nd platoon bails another. The M1 command team KIAs 2 T-72Ms and bails another.

Turn 4

East Germans:
The T-72s wont remount. The fire from the T-64s and the T-72s manage to bail 2 M1s. The T64s on the other end KIA 3 Humvees of the scout platoon. On the hill, the BMP-1s KIA 2 Humvees of the other scout platoon.

US Army:
The scout platoon near the BMP-1s flee. The other scout platoon (with only 1 veh. left ) passes morale and moves into cover. 1st platoon M60 emerges from the woods and puts the hurting on the T-64s (4 armor save attempts....4 failures!!!) by eliminating 4 of them!!!! The M1 platoon kills 2 more T-72Ms.

Turn 5
East Germans:
The lone T-64 passes morale and moves back-killing an M60 in the process. The T-64s only manage to bail an M1-the T-72s fail to hit anything, The BMP-1s fire ATGMs at the M1s and miss.

US Army:
The M1 platoon fail morale and hoof it. The 2 M60 platoons pass their blitz moves and move up 2nd platoon fires into the rear of the T-64 company and KIAs 2 of them and bails another, 1st platoon M60 fires at a T-64 and misses. The M60 command team moves to the top of the overpass. The scout ITV misses. M1 command team KIAs 2 more T-72Ms and bail the 3rd.

Turn 6
East Germans:
The lone T-64 and T-72 both pass morale, both remount and both fire at 1st M60 platoon-killing 1. The BMP1 platoon passes blitz and manage to KIA 1 of the M60 command tanks. T-55s move against the M1s to contest that objective.

US Army
M60 command team passes morale and KIAs a T-55. 2nd platoon M60 fails morale. The M1s bail 2 T-55s. 1st platoon M60 KIAs the last T-64 and bails the last T-72. 1st platoon is just killing it!!!!!

Turn 7:
I offer a draw-Mike says no

East Germans:
The last T-72M passes morale and remounts. It misses of course. The T-55s manage to take an M1 in flank and KIA it. The T-55s also KIA an M113. The BMP-1 scouts knock out the last of the M60 command team, The T-55s get 2 hits on the m60s but they make their armor saves. Damn 1st platoon!!!!!!!

US Army
1st platoon M60 passes morale and takes out the last T-72M and 2 T-55s!!! The COs M-1 KIA another T-55. The ITV fire at the BMP-1s and miss.

Turn 8
East Germans:
I am dumb and forgot about my BRDM scouts-they now run up and secure the center objective and manage to shoot up a scout Humvee that was closing to grab it as well. 4 ATGMs at 1st platoon M60 produces 1 KIA. The T-55s with all kinds of flank shots on the last M1 miss everything!!!

US Army:
The ITVs KIA 1 BMP-1. That damned 1st M60 platoon KIAs another 2 T-55s. ( they have eliminated 1 T-64 company, 1 T-72 company, 1 T-55 company!!!!!) They have eliminated 13 tanks!!! The M1 manages to bail a T-55

Turn 9
East Germans:
The T-55s do finally eliminate the last M1 and the 3 BMP-1s fire ATGMs at the M60s and finally score 3 hits and eliminate 1 and bail another.

US Army:
The M60 platoon has had enough-they gather their wounded and beat feet. With not enough to contest objectives the American concedes and falls back further west.
