Firestorm: Stripes

The Germans had just scattered the Americans defending the bridge. The Russian scouts began to move through the town and the Germans had moved to the rear for a much needed rest. As the lead elements of the Russian advance show up-the radio comes to life. "Comrade Polkovnik!!! British tanks a...........the radio crackles and Durchenko prepares the forces he has at hand. The British have come to reclaim this bridge.

British Turn 1

A Chieftain platoon moves across a ford and engages a T-64 company-they KIA 1, bail 1, and KIA a ZSU.
FV432s try to cross a second ford but the #2 boggs down-they fire at the dug in infantry but fail to do any damage, The arty puts up a smoke screen.

Russian turn 1

The remaining ZSU flees!!!! The remaining T-64s and the Russian CO engage and destroy 3 Chieftains, saggers manager to bail 1 Chieftain. The BTRs move toward rivers edge. Arty ranges in-but the FO cant see the target so no special ammo-bails a FV.

British turn 2

FV wont remount. 2 FVs get across the river but now #4 boggs down, The Helos move across the river and land. The Chieftain platoon KIAs 2 more T-64 and another Russian unit is gone. The FVs fire and KIA an infantry team. The arty hits the Russian infantry (pinned already) they get 6 hits, but 6 saves are made!!! The British infantry assault-the take 6 hits and are driven back and lose another team.

Russian Turn 2

The German CO and T-64 passes his Blitz move and is able to move close enough to the helos to cause them to get airborne. T-64 platoon engages the Chieftains and KIA 1 of them. Spandrel fires at the FVs and KIA 1 of them. Russian inf fires at British inf. KIA 1 more team. Arty hits but does nothing

British Turn 3
FV still wont remount. British infantry fall back to the town. Helos move to British side near town and land. Chieftains fire at the T-64s and KIA another 2. The FV432s plan to overrun the Russian inf-KIA 2 but the battle rages back and forth. By the end-5 Russian teams are eliminated but the last FV is eliminated as well. Arty arrives to no effect.

Russian turn 3
The BTRs cross the river( 4 cross, 4 bogg). The Russian CO in the last T-64s KIAs a Chieftain. BMP-1 scouts move to rivers edge

British turn 4

British CO in the Chieftain moves into cover-the helos land behind the bridge. The last FV flees. BR infantry team moves into the town to stop the BTR-60s. Arty rolls a 1!!

Russian turn 4

All BTRS are now at the edge of town. BMP-1 scouts cross the river and no bogging. The BTRs and BMPs manage to kia 2 carl gustav teams.

British Turn 5
The airlanding team rolls its blitz move and are in cover behind the bridge. A carl gustav team KIAs a BTR and arty hits and KIAs another BTR. The helos leave the board.

Russian Turn 5

BTR attack!!! and KIA 1 milan from the air mobile team. Arty tries and fails, again,

British turn 6

Carl Gustav KIAs a BTR, milan missile KIAs a BMP-1 scout. Br infantry fires but gets 3 hits and 0 kills. Arty hits and again KIAs a BTR

Russian turn 6

BMP-1 scout flees. BTRs rush to overrun the infantry. The Russian CO KIAs the last Chieftain. The Russian infantry uses its grenade launcher and other weapons and eliminate 3 airlanding teams. The BTRs fire and do nothing to the remaing 3 FV infantry teams. The BTRs try to overrun the 3 teams and fail!!! Losing another 2 BTRs.

British turn 7
Still holding but just barely. The airlanding team remains pinned-and the 3 infantry teams from the FVs are all that's holding the bridge.

Russian turn 7
The battle ends when the Russian infantry assaults the fv infantry and loses 3 teams doing it but they secure the bridge and the win!!!

I would like to thank Josh for filling in for Adam and Comrade Sokolov for those outstanding turn markers. British infantry is tough and of course their tanks are awesome. We proxied them but Adam might get himself a few boxes of Chieftains.
