Adam Norris

My brother in law Adam has played games before, but he wanted to play tonight. He was to be part of the allied team, but after 2 turns Josh had to leave so Adam fought me 1 on . For his first time in the batters box he did a great job and fought tooth and nail.

Situation: HQ has ordered a new offensive with the war stalled on other fronts. An armored offensive has been ordered and will coincide with air assaults all over Holland. The flare goes up and the armored starts to move, when suddenly forward observers reports Germans moving to engage us!!!! The Germans are attacking!!!!

Maps at HQ are so detailed.
Far left Russian flank
Fine dining and drinking

Battle was hasty attack, Germans rolled and were the attackers. It would be a long bloody day.

Turn 1

Germans roll a 5 for reserves-he brings in his M109s. A Leo 2 platoon KIAs 2 BMP1 scouts at the edge of town. Leo1 platoon bails a T-64. Another Leo2 platoon KIAs a T-64. Another Leo1 platoon misses the T-64s.

The remaining BMP1 scout flees...you cowards!!!! at this time!!!! T-64 company gets 3 hits on the Leo2 platoon but KIAs only 1. T-64 gets 4 shots on the Leo1s and only manages to KIA1. Spandrel Ambush!!!! But it only bails a Leo2.

Germans on the move

Turn 2

Adam rolls 2 5's for reserves-he brings on a 2 tank Leo2 platoon and a 4 Marder infantry platoon. He places his tanks in the center and the Marders on his far right flank. He rolls for aircraft!!! He bought Tornados!!! The Leo2 remounts, the other Leo2 passes morale. A Leo 1 platoon KIAs a T-64 and bail 2 more. The other Leo1 platoon KIAs another T-64 and bails another. The other Leo2 platoon KIAs 2 BTR-60 and none of the teams get out alive. A ZSU is also KIA. Artillery hits to no effect.

The remaining ZSU passes morale. The BTR60s move toward the objective to defend it. The Spandrels KIA a Leo1. T-64s KIA a Leo1 and the German lose their first unit. The other T-64 platoon KIAs a Leo2 platoon and the Germans have lost 2 units.

Tank gun duels begin. T64s have the advantage at long range over the Leo1s.
After taking 2 losses the BTR60s advance under cover of smoke.

Turn 3
again...no aircraft. Rolls get him 1 reinforcement He brings in the Luchs (2). Leo1 platoon fails moral and it flees. The 2 tank strong Leo2 platoon moves to cover his exposed left flank. Marders move to get to the Russian Objective in order to defend it .Leo 2s manage to KIA another T-64 and arty bails a BTR60

Russian roll and get 1 reinforcement and bring on the T-72 (5) . They roll a 3 so they arrive in the center. All venicles manage to remount. BTRs fail a blitz move. The move to the objective and I hope they don't have to shoot. The T64 company (2) fire at the 2 reserve Leo2 platoon and the German takes make their armor saves. The center T-64 platoon (4) fire at the Leo2 platoon(4) and get 2 bails. Spandrel fires at the Leo2 platoon but it makes its armor save. And as always the Russian artillery fails to range in.

Battle in the center.
The Russian far right flank.

Turn 4
The last German reinforcements arrive. Another Luchs(2) section. Aircraft finally arrive and move to bomb the newly arrived T-72s. They attempt to use the MW-1 but miss. The Shilkas are too far away to engage them. The Reserve Leo2 platoon(2) hit the T-64 company(4) and KIA 2 of them. The other Leo2 platoon(3) bail a T-64 and a BTR 60. Arty KIAs 2 more BTR60s and kill 2 teams as well.

Another T-72 unit (4) arrives from reserve. Rolled a 1 so its all the way on the Russian left flank. In an ideal location actually. The T-64 company(2) bail a reserve Leo2. The other T-64 company(2) bail a Leo2 as well. Spandrels bail another Leo2. The T-72s on the far left flank have a shot and KIA a Leo2.The arty hits the Marders but does no damage.

Far left flank reserve T72s
Russians in the center.
Reserve LEO2s hold off the T64s.

Turn 5

No aircraft, The Leo2 platoon in the center fails morale. The Leo2 on the far left passes morale but the other tank in the unit does not remount. Luchs in center move to the cover of the trees in the center. Marders are at the Russian OBJ. German CO blitz move toward the hill to delay the 4 tank t-72 platoon. The Leo2 KIAs another T-64. The Jag1 bail a T-64 arty fires a smoke mission to cover the German CO's move.

3 more Russian units arrive from reserve. The last of the T-72s roll a 6 and end up on the right flank near the other T-72 platoon ( so nearly 10 T-72s are on that flank) the BMP infantry(4) roll a 4 so end up in the center and the BMP1 scouts roll a 1-Russian far left flank. T-64s (2) fire and KIA 1 Marder. T-64 fire at the Leo2-makes its armor save. BMP-1s fire at the Luchs and miss twice. Arty fails to range in.

The circle begins to close

Turn 6

Aircraft roll is a 2-Pilots just suck. Leo2 finally remounts and the 2 tanks fall back. German infantry passes a blitz move and then they move to occupy the buildings and cover around the objective. Jag 1 fire and KIA a T-64. The 2 German Leo2s KIA the last T-64 on that flank. The German CO KIAs a T-72. The Luchs section KIAs a BMP1 but both teams survive.

The last remaining T-64(the one in the center) passes morale and move back to cover. The scout BMP1s Cross Country dash toward the Objective. T-72s engage and KIA the German COs tank-he survives. BMP1s all miss the Luchs. The 5 tank T-72 company KIAs a Leo2 and the other T-72 company KIAS 2 M109s. Artillery hits but does no damage

Germans see the end coming

Turn 7
Adam rolls a 2 for aircraft. He rolls a 2 for the M109s and he rolls a 2 for the remaining Leo2. The Leo 2 and the 109 leave the field. The Leo2 is a hero-he killed 5 T-64s!!!! A WW3 German tanker ace!!! The Luchs bail 2 BMP1 scouts, a milan misses. The Jag 1 kills the last ZSU.

BMPs KIA another Marder Durchenko KIAs another Marder. A Jag 1 is KIA and an RPG-7 from the BTR infantry kills a luchs.

Germans see themselves surrounded on 3 sides.

Turn 8

Adam sees the Jag1 fail morale-it flees. AC arrive and attack the T-72s on the hill-rolls a 1-misses yet again. He fires with his 2 Milans at the T-72s and miss. The Luchs fires at the BMP1 scouts and also misses. On the other side of the objective a spandrel is KIAd by the other Luchs section. Seeing whats coming he decides to abandon the objective and conceded

Adam concedes. Next time commie, next time!!!

A very hard fought battle. The random arrival locations of my reserves really helped me in my attack. Adam did a great job in his first fight. He is hooked. He is going to register as an allied army sometime tomorrow. I am not sure which army he will join however. He is going to stop by tomorrow-he was reading the rule book and my print outs and wants to play a quick annihilation battle before he goes to his job tomorrow morning. Any allied commanders keep an eye open for Adam Norris. I am really liking the smaller tank units and the 8 strong BTR Company
