Firestorm: Stripes

A smallish 50 point game at Dunfermline's DWARF club pitting Richard's Soviet East Germans against my (apparently) corrupt liberal West Germans in defense of Frankfurt.

By deployment time I was already regretting the absence of infantry in my list or any effective way to counter his BMP infantry. Darn you (Battlefront) supply lines. Objectives are set up on opposite sides of my table edge.

Putting a platoon of Leopard 1s in ambush leaves me a pair of Luchs and a brace of Leo 2s to support my HQ. The enemy is keeping his T55s off and deploying his BTR-60/BMP infantry BRDMs and Spandrels. I spearhead my Luchs across towards the second objective but with precious few assets on the table at the outset and his own infantry deployed across a wide area, I decide to concentrate in a central bubble and to try to defend the objectives at range and pull them back keeping my Leo 2s behind cover.

Second turn my Gepards arrive from reserves but by this point his main infantry force is already cresting the hills around the left objective and the BTR platoon are working their way through the
buildings in the centre and getting close to RPG range.

I hold off until my second Leo 1 platoon arrive and then springing my ambush platoon I focus as much fire as I can on the BMPs supporting the infantry. After a couple of turns of bloody fire his BMPs are smoking wrecks and so too are my Leo 1s. My Gepards finally succumb as well and my second platoon of reserve Luchs hooks onto the table on the far left flank and finish off one of his Spandrel platoons.
But by this time I know I have lost the objective on the left to the infantry in cover on the hills so it's time for a final Hail Mary with my two remaining Leo 2s which burst from their cover to engage the
leading T55s leaving them with a bloody nose before I concede the battlefield.
