Ruhr bridgehead, by the looks of it, should have been easy but that turned out differently. Having a rather tight time limit and lots of units I decided to play aggressively, maybe unnecessarily aggressive. With Dusk approaching I aimed at getting this done before night falls, running the infantry right up to the objective while the tanks are flanking.
With Frym3n having a rather small deployment zone he tucked in tight and deployed everything in that wheat field (at winter?!) with Leopard II hiding in some bush and Tornadoes on standby.
The Right flank:
My arty was ranged in on the wheat field with T-55's taking the flank ready to race around to the objective.
The Left flank:
The T-72M's ready to advance (and probably find the Leo's)
The Middle:
The Motor-Schutz battalion ready to rush the road!
The first turn set my luck for the game, with advancing tanks on the flank and few targets to shoot, not one thing hit or did damage on the opening salvo.
The return fire was terrifyingly effective as it didn't suffer any casualties. Six tanks and eight BMP's....
The next two turns didn't go any better, infantry all pinned down, not doing anything. T-72's not hitting anything, and if it hits it didn't do anything. One lucky shot finally got one LeoII, but that was it for me.. the T-72's were all out of the game.
With Luchs coming in from the rear, a pair peppering my Carnage arty and another knocking out my Shilkas, but the last one got revenge on one of the Luchs as well as some direct fire from the Carnation! :D
By this time the game was finished, with just two T-55's and infantry left there wasn't much for me to do, and the bad luck continued, nothing I tried worked.
Gepards and grenadiers continued to mow down the infantry while Leo and Tornadoes mopped up the rest.
Turn 5 and I still had few units alive, just barely, night fighting slowed the grind a little down but not by much.
I managed to run one of the Luchs unit away, thus securing a wooping 5-2 defeat instead of total loss.
Then came the final blow...
When the dice say no there is nothing you can do... but show good sportsmanship and be graceful in defeat.
Thanks Frym3n for a great game nonetheless!
Few notes for my self:
Arty might be better in two squads of three.
BMP's are probably better at range when Gepards are hunting.
Always bring an observer with the artillery.
Consider scouts when above 50pts.
Remember these damn commander abilities.
T-72M's need better vision slits...
Infantry should be able to unpin in five rolls...
too bad on the loss, and great report
Murphy stalked you this time for sure Comrade. A nice AAR despite the heavy casualties!

Not much to show for the loss of a Battalion!
I am starting to feel that we are just playing a part in a heroic NATO novel.
Nice battle report and it never fails, there is always a battle at McDonalds.
Updated finally.
There was nothing I could do when the dice just said no… no and again no…
Congrats on the win for Frym3n, but wondering exactly how the West Germans pulled it off!?
Looks good so far, will hold off rating.
Judging from the placeholder text between pictures there’s going to be a longer explanation, but so far a good job!
Congratulations on the win.
Could use a bit more narrative
