We used the more missions pdf and both chose Manuver. We rolled and got Dust Up. My opponent rolled high so he attacked. We both needed to hold half of our force in delayed reserves, so I placed my Soviet Afgantsey, 3 T-72’s, 4 BMP-2 recon on the table with Mi-24 loudering off table. I spearheaded my recce into the area where my reserves will be coming onto table. My DDR formation being held in reserve consists of 3 units of 6 T-55AM2’s each, 2 units of 3 Carnations and 3 BMP-1’s Reccon. Two units of AA brought on last because Al had no air units. Al deployed 1 Armoured Infantry unit, Milan unit, 3 Cheftons, 4 Abbot’s, 6 Scimitar’s and his unit of 4 Rapiers. Al spearheaded his Scimitars into his reserve deployment area then followed by his armoured infantry. He held off 2 Chiefton’s, another Armoured Infantry and Milan units, Spartan Milan plt of 4 and another Recon plt consisting of 5 Scorpion’s. Al won the toss and had first turn. Al pushed his 3 Chieftains towards my 4 BMP-2’s by rolling for a Blitz move then moving across a small river while staying in cover. He dismounted his infantry by Blitz move then pushed them forward into cover along a hedgerow, while keeping his APC’s in concealment. His Scimitars moved towards my Afgantsy defending the objectives in my deployment zone. His fire had no effect because of all my units being gone to ground. My first turn I pushed forward with my recce unit trying to threaten his Repiars while staying in concealed from his Chieftains. My T-72’s stayed behind a stand of trees to protect my flank from Al’s reserves. My second unit of Afgantsy moved into the center of the table to secure a building and in move on the closest objective. My first unit of infantry staid gone to ground in order to stay alive and prevent his reserves from pushing into my deployment zone quickly. My first unit of Carnations failed to range in on his infantry while my second unit ranged in on the second attempt. Failling to kill any of his infantry in the subsequent bombardment I ended my turn.

Turn two started by Al passing a Blitz roll and moving his Chieftains around a stand of trees and getting three concealed shots on my BMP-2’s. Al continued with his awesome dice skills and succeeded in killing three with the third fleeing the field. Al ranged in on my first unit of Carnations on the first try and killed two with the third fleeing the field also. His infantry fired at my home to ground Afgantsy’s with no effect. My turn started my Spigots from both units firing at Al’s Scimitars hitting two but only killing one while bailing one. My first unit of Afgantsy continued towards the objective and my second unit of Carnations hit and killed one stand of Al’s infantry and pining them down.

Turn three Al rolled for reserves on his first try bring in his second unit of 2 Chieftains and moving them down the road towards my second Afgantsy unit while staying concealed from my Spigots and T-72’s. Al ranged his Abbots in on my first Afgantsy unit pining them down. Al moved his othe Chieftains back across the river to threaten my infantry and to keep them from contesting the objective. I started my turn by failing to bring on reserves. An ill omen for thing to come. I continued my bombardment on his infantry and killing an additional stand of infantry.

Turn four starts with Al bringing two more units onto the table. His Scorpions and his second Armoured infantry unit. His Chieftains fired into my first unit of Afgantsy located in the church at the center of the table blocking the road and threatening the objective. Killing one stand and pining them down. His Scimitars and Scorpions advanced towards my second Afgantsy unit raking them with fire, killing another stand. My turn resulted with, wait for it, that’s right, no reserves. My infantry rolled off the pins and fired 6 Spigot shots into his Scimitars killing one more. Al passes his motivation and the Scimitars continue on. My Carnition attempt to range in on unit of two Chieftains which will continue to pound his infantry as well but fails to miserably. My T-72 move through the trees resulting in one bogging down they fire at concealed Chieftains from the flank missing both shots. My Afgantsy fire on and kill Al’s forward observer. I’m get desperate for some kind of positive momentum.

Turn five starts with Al bringing on two more units. Spartan Milan’s and Infantry Milan’s. Chieftains Blitz and Fire. Destroying one T-72. Milan’s fire from Al original infantry unit killing second T-72 causing Morale check which I fail. Al fails to range artillery onto church but continues fire from other Chiefton unit. My turn begins with my unable to roll for reserves. Luckily I get one anyway. Here comes the T-55’s. Moving them along the flank I attempt to hit his Chieftains from the rear and his rapiers. I fail to hit his Chieftains but kill two of his rapiers. My spigot fire is unaffective. As well as RPG’s. Carnations range in a kill one more stand of infantry.

Turn six Al brings on his last units. He continues his Decimation by turning his Chieftains around and killing two of my T-55’s he moves his remaining Rapiers behind cover. He also continues his bombardment killing more infantry. I again fail to get more then my one unit in reserve so I bring on another T-55 company. I road dash them to the area of the church and cover them with a smoke screen. My other T-55 company blitz forward to he more guns on Chieftains but fail to hit any. Spigots Fire six shots into Scorpions killing three. Most effective unit on the board so far. They need a Medal. Al fails moral and the flee the battlefield.

Another Soviet win over nice Terrain,

but AAR wise, what really happened is a bit of a mystery and would have liked some analysis

Nice job, Stefanovich. It was a very hard-fought battle, as I watched key parts of it. Al handles his units very well, and killed most of Stefanovich’s tanks.
