WEST GERMAN TURN 1
- No reserves -
Frym3n started the battle with both formation leaders, LEO 2's, Marde Zug and Gepards.
Red Alert started with BMP-2's, SA-13, one unit of -64's and the Storm plt.
Movement was cautious but the West Germans managed to take out 3x BMP-2's in their shooting step.
SOVIET TURN 1
- No reserves -
Sprung Storm Ambush and could target the Gepards. Moved the T-64 forward and attempted to relocate the BMP's
Storms took out 2x Gepards in the shooting step!
WEST GERMAN TURN 2
- Both Leo-2 platoons arrive from reserves -
Once again a few Leo's could fire at the BMP and two more were lost.
Other Leo's manage to fire at the Storm Anti Tank unit and in a marvelous display destroy them all.
T-64's had missed the Milans in the block of flats, 2 hits , one bailed, the other destroyed and morale. Formation leader joined and rolled a "1" for the third battle in a row between Frym3n and I !
SOVIET TURN 2
- Hinds arrive form reserve -
Turn 2 and things were really going against the Soviets. Time for drastic measures. Hinds were flown in and the Gepards were the first target or they would not last long.
Two Hinds were lost to only one Gepard bailed and they passed morale.
+++ WEST GERMAN TURN 3
This was turning into payback for the game in Amsterdam:
https://firestormstripes.warconsole.com/battles/red-alert-vs-frym3n-1520811767
With little to oppose them the West Germans advanced to capture their right objective.
Shooting was a little less effective this turn, since there were fewer targets left. But a few more BMP were lost leaving only 1 to remain.
+++ SOVIET TURN 3
- T-64 and Shilkas from reserve both arrive in the right place to contest the West Germans.
Frym3n had elected to attack at dusk and dusk fell, giving his Leo'2s an edge.
Shilkas and the last BMP failed to see the Gepards but took out the Luchs. The combined fire of the T-64 and Hind's only managed to bail a single Leo 2.
+++ WEST GERMAN TURN 4
The Leo 2 failed to remount but the rest of the German forces relocated and once the shooting was over, all the T-64, the Shilkas and the last BMP had been destroyed!
Nice AAR & pictures
Uhhh I see Frym3n have gotten himself some more Leo´s. Good report. This shows how important it is to take out those Gepards, so the Hinds can run free killing Leo2´s. I thought you had them when the Storms killed of 2 in the ambush.
Slug fest. Well played. Great report as usual.
+++ Frym3n played the Leo’s well in both battles, sometimes getting LOS with only one or two of his tanks, but they have ROF 2 and a range of 100cm/40″ so he did play to their strengths.
Goes to show how much WG need good dice and perfect play though. The other battle same force and a very different result
Ouch yep, he didn’t even need the Tornados, that was rough with you HQ and T-64s going. But totally different to the Dresden battle. I would say better luck next time, but you did!! Lovely report as per usual!
Tough fight
Hard-fought. Looking to your next report now!
