Pushing forward towards the west, from victory to victory, brought us finally to the suburbs of Amsterdam. Stavka ordered an Attack on the city to gain ground and push the NATO forces away. To get as close to the enemy as possible the time of the attack was ordered to be under the cover of darkness in the early morning. Scouting Spetznaz reported of mines that were placed near the objective so extreme caution was necessary when pushing forward. Prior to the attack two companies of motorized infantry deployed in forward positions to clear mines to let the tanks pass through.
Our forces concentrated on the closest objective as it could be easily surrounded and isolated. It was defended by a british infantry platoon, 3 Chieftains and 4 Milans in a building behind the objective. This light defenses should be overwhelmed by a determined push easily.
The infantry moved carefully forward to clear the minefield. The BMPs headed raced forward to encircle the Brits and cut off any reinforcements.
The british commander decided that it is time to halt our assault. He let spring his trap. 4 Scimitars ambushed our BMP that rushed down the center and the Milans behind the objective opened fire on the T-55. Altough some tanks were knocked out the return fire hurt them much more. A couple of Scimitars and all Milans vanished in the hail of shells.
After eliminating the Milans the only firepower left was the Chieftains. After the flanking infantry failed to hit them with their RPGs the Spandrel Commander Unterleutnant Barkens aimed at a weakspot and destroyed one of the tanks. That disencouraged the other two to fight on and they flet the battlefield.
Now the defending infantry was encircled by the brave soldiers of the Volksarmee. The only thing that had to be done was routing them out. Resistance came only from 4 mobile Milans and two Swingfires which were shot combat ineffective.
3 T-55 tried to assault the infantry but got blasted away by the defending Carl Gustavs. But even after 5 turns of intense shelling of countless T-55, BMP, BRDM and infantry the suffered no losses. So all the infantry had to assault but was beaten badly by the close combat trained british soldiers.
We decided before the game to play 9 turns. At the end of turn 9 after 5 turns of getting constantly shot by ~15 T-55, 10 BMP, 2 BRDM and an infantry platoon out of 8 british infantry teams still 4 were alive. The insane infantry saves and bad firepower/to hit rolls decided this game.
But this game was bloody and awesome intense! It was a ton of fun to play with Daniel. In the end only 3 mobile Milans, Mortars, Blowpipe and the two infantry platoons survived, everything else had vanished.
On the side of the NVA 7 platoons were lost (2 Spandrel, 2 BMP, 3 T-55) and 15 were still fighting. So I would rate this as minor casualties.

You would have done better assaulting the Milans, with their minimum 20cm range (8″) they have no defensive fire.
But here small units of T-55 might not make the cut.
Nice report.
Wow, tough slog.
very nice table and what a fight
thx for sharing the nice AAR
hard fought! oh well, better luck next time
It were 64pts. I guess Larks has misklicked the points and for linking I had to chose the same value.
22 platoons in 50 points? That’s scary 😀 .
Better luck next time.
