To: CinC Central Front
From: Podpolkovnik Sherriski
Theater: Frankfurt region
Report: Per Central Command instructions, Guards Tank Batalon supported by Shilka AA, understrength mech. infantry and limited combat aviation advanced in drought-stricken area of Frankfurt.
Rapid assault on enemy left flank almost successful. Inexplicably, Leopards resisted main gun rounds of T-64. Suspect counter-revolutionary saboteurs in non-Russian munitions factories. Enemy recon elements dispatched but main battle tanks mostly unscathed. After sustaining approx 75% casualties, Central
Command advised withdrawal. Overall enemy casaulties light. Batalon reorganizing for subsequent wave redeployment. Za Rodinu!
Lessons learned: It is imperative to avoid line of sight with NATO ATGMs. West German Milan teams dealt consistently heavy damage from long range. T-64s are almost immune to frontal fire from Leo 1s. But only almost. Enough massed fire from even 105mm guns will eventally find weak spots. Flakpanzer Gepards remain a serious threat to Soviet air and light armor. Even the side armor of the T-64 is vulnerable to Gepard autocannon fire. Recommend highest target priority on Gepards, especially if friendly air present in-theater. In this case Soviet commander was hesitant to enter dense terrain but this was likely a mistake as mission objective was located in such and more aggressive surrounding of the objective could have kept NATO forces back. As mentioned previously, tank gunnery was atrocious at less than 30% effectiveness. Recommend remedial gunnery for tank crews.
yumm gepards!
Nice brief report, better if you spread out the pictures
Good lessons learned. Milans and Gepards are the backbone of the force and can be a tough nut to crack.
Gepards can destroy everything: infantry, light vehicles, air and MBTs.
Short, sweet and too the point. Like it.
Congrats on the win Dtone. Keep it up.
