It's the second game of the day and i have to fight the forces of GDR.
The NVA are though guys who will fight to the bitter end and are able to bring a extreme about of cheap stuff. My M1's love to fight their tanks but I have lost more then only one game against these guys just by overrunning my troops.
We rolled for the mission and it was NO RETREAT with me as attacker.
Thats not good but ok i will do my best.
I decided to concentrate my troops on the left and capture the objective as fast as possible and before the whole amount of NVA reserves are on the table.
Turn 1 and 2:
In the dark of the night the US-Army moved forward. To protect the advancing troops the M109's set up a smoke screen in front of the M1 platoon. The NVA did nothing at their first turn.
At their second turn with a T-72 platoon the first reinforcements for the NVA arrived. The other T-72 reveal their ambush and destroyed two of the Stinger Hmmwv's.
The Frogfoots targeting the two ITV platoons on the left destroying one platoon and bailed one of the second platoon.
Turn 3:
The M1's moved around the minefield followed by the M113's of the first platoon.
The second platoon rushed through the village to attack the defending NVA Infantry from the left flank.
Their shooting missed the eastgerman soldiers but the artillery pinned them. The M1 platoon opened fire on the BMP's and killed four of them.
Another two platoons of T-55 arrived. From their cover the Sprandels failed to penetrate the M1's only the SU-25 killed one. The NVA Infantry fired some rockets at the advancing M113 at the village but only killed one and bailing two more.
Turn 4:
This turn my A10s arrived and headed straight towards the T-72 platoon behind the village. To support and protect the planes the M1 tried to shoot at the Shilkas but couldn't locate them in the darkness.
Instead the Abrams shot at the Infantry and together with the second infantry platoon they pinned them down.
Without any loses the Shilkas shoot down two of the A10's before the other two destroyed a T-72 and build two more.
The M109's destroyed one of the ambushing T-72's. Then the M1's and the second infantry platoon charged the NVA foot soldiers. After a bloody hand to hand and hand to steel combat the socialist soldiers decided to better fell back towards their BMP's.
In return the Spandrals killed another M1 and bailed one more. The other T-72 platoon blasted away a ITV platoon at the cornfield. But not enough they destroyed one rocket tank of another ITV platoon. The remaining ITV turned around and hastily rolled of the battlefield.
The other T-72 was unlucky to remount their tanks and even more unlucky as they totally missed the M1 platoon.
But the red infantry regained their courage and attacked the US infantry at the objective destroying them easily.
Turn 5:
The A10's decided better to pick the other T-72 platoon as target this time. Along with the remaining ITV's and the M109 platoon they destroyed three of the enemy tanks and bailed two more.
At the objective the previously victorious socialist infantry was reduced to two teams by the combined fire of the M113's and the VADS. That was too much even for the bravest and the soldiers fled.
The M1's were not able to destroy the T-72's.
The sun rose and it looked as if the the NVA soldiers were blinded by her because this turn only the
T-72 managed to destroy two M113's and two of the teams inside. The Shilkas bailed another and the Sprandals bailed a M1.
Turn 6:
The US infantry left their APC but became pinned down as one of the teams was blown up by a mine.
Meanwhile the copperheads of the M109's destroyed three more T-72's at the hotspot near the objective. The remaining tanks turn around a left the field in panic.
Without a other target the M1's turned their turrets and with a hellish salvo destroying three T-55. The last T-55 fought it was a good idea to follow the diminishing column of fleeing T-72's.
Left of the village the ITV's killed another T-72.
With a platoon of three more T-55 the last reserves of the socialists arrived. And ahead of them the Frogfoots returned to the battlefield. And they wasted no time to destroy the last two M1's.
T-55's blasted the remaining M113's while the forward rushing shilkas killed two infantry teams.
Three VADS were destroyed by the combined fire of the Sprandals and the last T-72's. The last VADS became bailed but refused to run away.
The game getting closer and closer, at this point any dice roll could decide the game.
Turn 7:
Not much was left of both armies. The ITV's and the M109's together killed a Shilka and bailed two more the remaining one fled. The US infantry decided to better keep their heads down.
In return the unstoppable all-killing SU-25's finished of the last ITV platoon. The T-72 's blew up the last VADS. And finally the T-55 platoon charged the infantry and pulled them back with only two teams left.
Oh what a game!!!!
Turn 8:
This turn would bring the decision, and still both sides are able to win the game.
The A10 came back and attacked the T-55 and together the Artillery they killed FOUR of the tanks and one bailed. But the last T-55 didn't fled.
The SU-25 stayed off the field, yes!!! But the last three T-55 moved forward towards the last infantry teams. They opened fire and killed them without a problem.
With that happened the US had no formation left.
Great AAR. You put forth a lot of effort to share your game, well done.

My SU’s are the winners of this game 🙂 they really did a great Job… but it was hard and just the luck was on my side
By playing Abrams AND Warthogs together you displayed some serious panache. “The inches we need are everywhere around us”. Maybe next time!
very hard fight, Tovarische
Hard fought and valiant effort. Beautiful table and models
Modern war is brutal! Tough loss, Scholliger, but a great report and terrific looking armies!
