Firestorm: Stripes

The Team Yankee Global Campaign

Charge of the Not So Light Leopard 2s

Warsaw Pact
VS West German

Having spent some “quality” time away from the front, I returned to my command fresh and ready for action.

Recon photo of the area. An area that has felt of the ravages of prior battle.

Given the orders of high command to attack, I decided that I would use the area around the farm as a staging area for the assault. Knowing that West German armor is in the area, I knew they would probably go for the long range gun battle of attrition. A hard prospect for us having only 6 T64s available form the motor pool.

The force assembles in it's setup area, but with West Germans have the drop on us before our full force arrives. With just the T64s, a Medium sized BMP2 company and Storms ready to go, we suddenly start taking Rocket fire and the infantry is pinned.

The objectives high command has set for us are up on the high to our right and over in the parking lot of some burger/pizza business. As the men are growing tired of in field rations, I suspect they will be most motivated if we go for the burger joint in hopes of liberating generous helpings of bourgeois McBurgers and Fries.

The West Germans push forward a platoon of Leopard 2s and their force commander in a Leopard I. This is highly unexpected, and I counter with the T64 company for the close range dual.
Meanwhile the BMP2 move up the right flank to get into position to fire missiles at the West German artillery.

With the Leopard 2s smoking, the West Germans are wondering where their reinforcements are. Their Tornados and another platoons of Leopard 2s are desperately needed it would seem.

The West German formation commanders perhaps having watched some John Wayne the night before decides to take matters into his own hands.

He brews up poor Ivan's tank but otherwise damage is minimal. The Storms make quick work of this Leopard I.

With new reinforcements the T64s rumble and take the objective. Cokes for everyone! as it should be in a socialist workers paradise.

  • Jagdpanzer says:

Yes WG player should have sat back and punished the Soviets in moving forward, and waited for reserves, but if you dont make mistakes you never learn, Thanks for the report, congrats on the win

  • HMS_Belfast says:

Always outnumbered – never outgunned. In theory 😉 !

  • Stone says:

Hard start to the rescue of Brandenburg by the West Germans. Good AAR and congrats on the win.

  • Nabeshin says:

Get that Thrawn into my West German forums and we’ll teach him some tactics 😉 For real though, he might be using an illegal list, I assume that there must’ve been reserves with so little on the board from his side? A good report though, captions always help tell the story 🙂

  • Kubikhan says:

Kinda hard to see exactly how the West Germans went wrong, but clearly charging into T64s front was where it started. Tough loss for us, Thrawn, but learn from it and get him next time.

  • M. Nisbet says:

Go easy on new players (I assume?). Especially ones wielding Leopard companies

  • CrazyIvan17 says:
