Bravo Troop 1st of the 11th Armored Cavalry was given the mission of attacking into the flank of the Warsaw Pact forces that penetrated into the area around Frankfurt. The Pact commander had good intel on the intentions of the 11th and dispatched a East German Tank Battalion to blunt the attack.
The meeting engagement developed rapidly with both forces running head on into each other. Once contact was made both sides took advantage of the terrain available and the battle settled into a long range duel from concealed positions. The forces were pretty evenly matched with the East German T-72M against the M60A3 TTS. Both sides took horrific losses very early in the battle causing a platoon of M60’s to flee the battlefield. The rest of the Troop held firm and was able to destroy all the East German armor causing all the support elements to retreat giving control of the battlefield to B Troop. Follow on forces are conducting a passage of lines at this time to continue the mission. Bravo Troop will be out of the fight for some time due to severe losses.
